CARLENE ZIMMERMAN PEAVEY

CARLENE ZIMMERMAN PEAVEY
December 11, 2006

Beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend Carlene C. Peavey went to be with her savior on Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Carlene was born March 24, 1943, in Lewiston to Charlie and Clara Zimmerman.  Charlie and Clara preceded her in death and were waiting for her at the pearly gates of heaven, when she passed on to that greater and better place.

She was raised in Lewiston with her younger sister, Sharon, and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1961.  She met the love of her life, Gary Peavey, in 1960, and they were married July 6, 1963.  They had two daughters, Kim and Shelly, and raised their family in Lewiston.

Carlene’s family and friends were a huge part of her life and she was very proud of all of them.  However, her pride and joy, the smile on her face and the twinkle in her eye was brought on by the love she had for her four beautiful grandchildren, Erika, Jarod, Kody and Alexis.  They were the center of her universe and she loved them very much.

Carlene had numerous jobs during her lifetime from working at the Bon in 1961 to working for various companies in their accounting departments.  Her last job was at Potlatch Corp., again working in accounting where she worked from 1985 up until she had to take disability retirement in 2000.  She made many treasured relationships during her years at Potlatch and the time she worked there was very precious to her.

Carlene enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, taking numerous vacations and trips to locations all over the world.  She enjoyed golfing with her husband and played in a golf league for several years, making many long-lasting friendships.  She and Gary also bowled for many years in leagues and again made numerous friends and memories over the years.  Carlene also enjoyed spending time outdoors with her family and they spent weekends camping with friends in their camper and yearly summer vacations with a group of family-like friends (the “Boat People”) at Newman Lake just outside of Spokane.

Carlene is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gary Peavey; two daughters, Kim Boettger and husband Gary, and Shelly Damato and husband Chip, all of Lewiston; one sister, Sharon Amundson and husband Roy of Clarkston; and four grandchildren, Erika and Kody Boettger and Jarod and Alexis Damato, all of Lewiston.

In lieu of flowers, Carlene and her family request memorials be made to the Jackson Baldwin Pay It Forward Foundation, c/o Potlatch Credit Union, 654 Southway Avenue, Lewiston.  Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Malcom’s Brower-Wann Funeral Home, 1711 18th St., Lewiston.  A reception will take place immediately after the services at the Hells Canyon Resort and RV Park, 1560 Port Drive, Clarkston.
