Caroline R. Foley Plumlee, g-mom, grandma C and sweet Caroline peacefully passed at home Sunday Aug. 2, 2020.
Caroline Ruth Foley Plumlee was born July 15, 1943 in Kendrick, Idaho, the 7th and youngest of Oscar and Mary Lawrence, and the only child of her mother’s attended by a physician.
She graduated from Lewiston High School (1960) and Kinman Business College (1961) in Spokane and moved to Portland in 1970. In 1973 she opened Foley Insurance Agency representing Safeco Insurance Company. She operated the agency for 25 years, proudly serving the Cedar Mill and Beaverton community. Carol was an active member and served as the Board Director of the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce, Oregon Professional Insurance Agent’s Association, Christ United Methodist Church and the Girl Scouts.
Carol retired from the insurance agency in 1998 after marrying Wilbur Plumlee in 1993. She and Wil enjoyed 26 years together before his death in November 2019. She was an avid crossword and jumble solver and devoted American. Her favorite holiday was the 4th of July and she considered Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline her personal anthem.
She was blessed with three daughters, Cathy Foley Fox (Michael Konopka), Julie Foley Kasler (Gregory), Melissa Foley Hayes (Christopher). In addition to her daughters and former husbands Leroy Fuchs, and Douglas Foley; she is survived by sisters, Anna Carmichael and Evelyn Nanik, both of Lewiston, Idaho; eight grandchildren, Bryan Kasler, Benjamin Thompson, Reece Hayes, Bailey Kasler, Robyn Thompson, Cooper Hayes, Brooklyn Kasler; great-grandson, Ezra Perez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be laid to rest next to her sweet Wilbur in Willamette National Cemetery. Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020, at Kasler’s Fourteen Joys Farm, 8097 Red Prairie Rd., Sheridan. Please email Julie Kasler at kaslerclan2@yahoo.com for more information.
