Richard Lee Pearson, a Spokane cab driver, died Tuesday at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane of respiratory failure. He was 48.

He was born Sept. 21, 1943, at Lewiston, to Roy and Wilma Pearson. He attended Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1961. He married Sharrel Miller at Lewiston in 1961. They were divorced in 1970.

Pearson moved to Spokane in 1979. He has lived there since. He was employed as a cab driver for Yellow Cab Co. in Spokane.

Survivors include his father at Lewiston; five sons, Ed L. Pearson of Lewiston, Ford T. Pearson of Portland, Ore., R. T. Pearson of Spokane, Beau Pearson of Lewiston and Saylor J. Pearson of Easton, Penn.; and a brother Bud Pearson of Oregon.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Ball and Dodd South Funeral Home in Spokane. The family suggests memorials be made to Sacred Heart Intensive Care Unit in Spokane.
