LOIS L. WALL MAXEY
May 10. 2008
Lois L. Maxey, 65, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008, at her home in Lewiston. Lois was born Feb. 11, 1943, to Harry and Josephine Wall in Wallace, Idaho, who later divorced. Josephine married George Hayes, who raised Lois and her siblings. Lois always considered George to be her father.
Lois lived in Lewiston most of her life. In the eighth grade, Lois volunteered for the Salvation Army and enjoyed every minute she spent there helping. Lois graduated from Lewiston High School in 1961. Lois completed a certified nursing assistant program as well as started classes to become a social worker, but due to health reasons was unable to pursue her degree.
Lois married Everett Maxey Oct. 19, 1961. The couple had two sons together, while Lois helped raise Everett’s daughters.
Lois worked at Tri-State Convalescent Center for a time. She also worked as a home health care provider as well as caring for the elderly in her own home.
In her earlier years Lois enjoyed painting, doing ceramics and reading Harlequin Romance novels. She also enjoyed watching the “Price is Right” with her sister-in-law Loretta Maxey and spending her afternoons with her dearest friends Lee and Forest Hamilton. Lois also enjoyed spending time with her many grandsons. But the most joyous time in Lois’ life was the time she spent at the mouth of French Creek, near Riggins, with Gene. There, Lois found peace and happiness in the simplistic way of life on French Creek.
Her husband, Everett Maxey; a twin sister Loris; a brother, William; a stepdaughter, Lisa May; and a grandchild, as well as her parents, preceded her in death.
Lois is survived by her sons, Dan Maxey and wife Shannon; their sons, Gareth and Grayden; and Jason Maxey and wife Jamie; and their sons, Aaron, Jaiden, Jamon and Landon; her stepdaughters, Dani Maxey of Hamilton, Mont., and Teresa Anderson of Lewiston; five other grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her brother, Robert Wall of Spokane.
A celebration of life and barbecue/covered dish dinner will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pioneer Park in Lewiston. The Rev. Brad Heflin will be officiating. Flowers may be sent to her sons. Memorials can be made to either the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
