RHEA JO LAIRD
October 20, 1960

A Lewiston High School senior, Rhea Jo Laird, 17, died about 9 yesterday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she had been a patient for a week. Miss Laird, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Laird, 3426 8th St., had a recurrent illness, but had attended school through Oct. 12. An autopsy was performed and a report is due later.

Miss Laird was born May 30, 1943 at Pendleton, and lived at Hermiston until moving to Lewiston with her family in 1946. She attended Webster and Warner elementary schools and junior high school here.

She was a member of the Congregation-Presbyterian (Federated) Church and in high school was a member of the L-Cube Club, the Bengal Claws, the girls’ L Club and during her freshman year was lead majorette with the B band. She was a member of Job’s Daughters, Bethel No 20, and had held a part-time job with Nez Perce Tractor & Equipment Co., Lewiston, for about a year.

Besides her parents, she is survived by a brother, David, and her grandfather, Samuel C. Laird of Craigmont.

The funeral will be Monday at 2 at the Federated Church with the pastor, The Rev. E. Paul Hovey, officiating. Burial will be at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens. The body may be viewed until noon Monday at Vassar-Rawls Chapel.
